Possible equipment failure affecting parts of Chamita/Espanola/Ohkay Owingeh

It appears that just after 11am today, October 6th, a piece of equipment on one of our towers had an issue of some kind. It is still operating but customers are not staying connected to it.

We are working with the manufacturer to troubleshoot the issue. In the meantime we are working on backup methods to bring affected customers back online.

Core upgrades and Alcalde tower network improvements for Tuesday September 24th.

Tomorrow morning, Tuesday September 23rd at around 4:00 AM, we will be performing some power-related maintenance which will cause a brief interruption in service. This should be completed before 5:30 AM.

Later in the morning, clients connected in the northern part of Alcalde will experience a brief outage as we upgrade some networking equipment on one of the towers in the area. The outage will last approximately 15 minutes between 9:30AM and 11:00 AM.

Thanks for your understanding!

Widespread power outage May 26th

As of about 5pm on Sunday, May 26th, a widespread power outage appears to be affecting many of our customers and one of our tower sites in downtown Espanola.

Due to frequent power outages we have been upgrading our tower sites with much larger backup battery banks. There are still a few yet to be upgraded, and they may drop off the outage goes too much longer. We will continue upgrading the remaining sites to avoid this during future power outages.

Upcoming tower work and service interruptions

As part of our commitment to delivering the best service we can, we are planning some upgrades for two towers early next week.

Monday 22 April, 10:00 AM to 3:00 PM. Some clients in Espanola connected to the HS tower will experience a brief outage as we swap an access point.

Tuesday 23 April, 10:00AM to 3:00 PM. All clients connected to GJ in Sombrillo will experience a brief outage as we swap a routing device and convert an existing access point to a different model.

Thanks for your understanding!

5 years of Black Mesa Wireless

Five years ago I put up our first tower in Velarde, after testing the equipment for a few months on my deck. This photo was taken as I finished setting it up.

We've come a long way since then. Fewer 3am outages and more customers. At the heart of this business is my desire for something better than what the local telco had to offer. I take joy in seeing people finally able to stream movies, to video chat with their grandkids, to work from home like I was trying to do before.

To all of our customers, I think about you every day. Downtime pains me emotionally. I want the best service we can afford to provide to all of you. Thank you for your ongoing business. We are doing our level best to give you fast, reliable, and affordable internet service.
