Potential power issues for clients connected to the HS Water Tank tower site

We have been working to remediate power issues at the HS tower site for the past several weeks. This coming weekend and early next week, from the 24th through to the 27th, the HS tower may experience power-related outages as we work to bolster our current power capacity.

Unknown Internet Issue (Possibly CenturyLink) Causing Widespread Problems

It appears starting early this morning (Sunday August 30th) there is some issue affecting traffic all over the internet, possibly a Level3/CenturyLink internet backbone outage, as you can see on http://downdetector.com. Our network is functioning normally but you may have trouble visiting some web sites or using some services until this issue is resolved. As this is an issue with the wider internet infrastructure we have no control over it.

Las Lomas Upgrades, Tower Upgrades

We have completed the long-awaited expansion at the Las Lomas apartments and will be adding clients from our waiting list in the order they were added! It has been a long time coming, thank you all for your patience.

We will be performing some tower maintenance affecting clients in Espanola tomorrow, 29 August 2020, between 7:00 AM and 12:00 PM. There should be only minor interruptions to service in this window, not lasting more than a few minutes at a time.

Update on repeated REDI Net outages

The REDI Net Network Operations team has gotten back to us with the cause of the several outages over the past few weeks. Their UPS (battery backup) systems in Espanola have failed and they are currently sourcing replacements. Until those replacements are installed, we may experience brief outages between when power goes out in that location and when their generators turn on. We do not currently have an estimate from them as to when those battery systems will be replaced. We have offered to help with this process but were informed that there was nothing we could do to expedite the process at this time.

We continue to work to make sure all towers have backup links where possible. In some cases this could take several months due to build times and budgetary constraints, but we will move the process forward as quickly as possible.

When we have a further update on the replacement of those battery backup systems, we will post a notice here.

Outage affecting a small area near the Espanola Plaza

EDIT: OUTAGE RESOLVED 9:21 AM. Outage due to a failed UPS powering REDI Net switching equipment.

We lost connectivity to our site near the plaza in Espanola at 3am. REDI Net confirms they cannot reach their equipment there that provides service to that location. We are waiting for further details. This outage affects only a few people as we have been migrating customers away from this location.

Power outage in Velarde/Lyden/Canova

There is a power outage affecting over 500 JMEC customers in the Velarde area, and affecting our office. Our network core is on a large battery bank and should be fine for many hours. We are monitoring the situation and will fire up a generator if necessary to keep things running.

Aside from customer homes not having power, we are not aware of any effects on Internet service at this time.
